Season Coming To An End In Minnesota.

Tomorrow night will be our last sampling night at the University of Minnesota. The season has been an exciting, successful experience for both the players on the court and POWERade on the sidelines. This week we’ve witnessed more dominance as the best of the A-League have distanced themselves from the competition and are poised to win an intramurals championship. The playoffs should be an exciting week.

Feel free to drop by the Minnesota page for all the latest photos and videos from the past couple of weeks of games. And just a reminder our last sampling event will be tomorrow at 6, be there or be square.

Sleep. Drink. Play Intramurals.

This saying seems to have rung true on the University of Iowa campus. Tonight at the Fieldhosue playoffs were in full swing. Similar to the NCAA brackets there were upsets, nailbiters, and overwhelming margins of victory. The passion appeared evident as players hit the hardwood with dedication and determination to try and achieve victory. It seemed for many teams that the pre-season was in the past and the focus rested on the “do or die” approach. Competition is fierce as players show their love for intramural basketball at the U of I.

Fun Facts

Hey Everyone! We have had a great season so far and now all that’s left is the NCCS Basketball Championship sponsored by POWERADE! We’ll find out next weekend who the best men’s and women’s team is from across the country. Make sure to check back here throughout the tournament for updates and highlights and catch the Championship Show on CBS College Sports Network at 8pm on April 5th!

Until then, I thought I’d take a look at the teams and see if there were any fun factoids I could come find to share with everyone. Here’s the list that I came came up with. If you can think of any more please comment on this post and share them!

-  Only three teams remain in the NCCS tournament and the NCAA Sweet 16: The University of Arizona, University of Missouri, and Villanova University.
-  Of the eight men’s teams remaining, four mascots are cats, two mascots are dogs, and two mascots are birds.
-  Washington State University is the most northern team remaining.
-  Bolling AFB is the only non-Division I university (duh) in either the men’s or women’s bracket.
-  The PAC 10 is the only NCAA conference with more than one team in the men’s championship.
-  University of Texas – San Antonio is the only school to have a men’s and women’s team in the tournament.
-  Five of eight teams in the men’s bracket hail from schools that are part of the POWERADE College Intramurals program.

I never said these were all stellar facts! Anybody else have any good ones?
