USF Flag Football Coming Soon!

The flag football season is once again upon us at USF.  The Second Annual New Student Flag Football Tournament wrapped up this past Friday night with the men’s team Shut Em Up winning it all over IATEA PI 28-0.  With that, we look forward to the regular season starting up next week with the captain’s meeting coming up on Monday at 4 or 7pm.  With Flag Football comes POWERADE and we will be out on the fields again ready to give out free samples of our product.  Look for the POWERADE banners and coolers set up on the hill in between the Intramural fields starting the first week of play.  Good luck and be on the lookout for new blog posts every week updating you on the latest action on the fields!  GOOOOO BULLLLLLSSSSS!

STORIES NEEDED!

Each season, CBS College Sports selects a 2 or 3 campuses to film a feature story. This custom feature is aired on the CBS College Sports Network as well as www.cbscollegesports.com, www.youtube.com, PODCAST, and of course, www.cbsintramurals.com/powerade.

We’re looking for great flag football stories to feature. Does your team have a unique story to tell? Do you have crazy traditions or superstitions? Are you a legacy team?

Let us know!

Post your intramural flag football story here below as a comment. If your story is selected we’ll send a CBS College Sports production team down to your campus to film this fall!

Bold Predictions for Flag Football ‘09

The 2009 POWERADE College Intramurals Flag Football season is right around the corner. Within the next few weeks, teams will be taking to the fields with hopes of being crowned Intramural Champions. Those coveted t-shirts await!

So what can we look forward to this season? Here’s a few BOLD predictions:

- After starting the season 3-0, several defending champion teams will take a black Sharpie to their 2008 championship t-shirts and insert “2009.” Repeat anyone?

- At least once per night of intramurals, on every campus across the country, a captain will use the famous Jim Mora speech to express his/her frustration with their team. PLAYoffs?!

- One team at UGA will take their rivalry with the University of Florida a little too far when they name their team the “Florida Gators” and then purposely lose every game throughout the season.

- Brett Favre will register for a class at the University of Minnesota so he can win an intramural championship for his daughter (:52 second mark). He will then throw 7 interceptions.

- Seventy-two teams will use their team name as a dedication to Michael Jackson.

- Eighty-eight teams will wish they had chosen a different team name by season’s end.

- After starting the year 0-5, and being shutout in three of five games this year, “The All Star Studs” will hold a press conference officially announcing that they “were not trying their hardest” and “didn’t want to make other teams feel bad by running up the score on them.” Zero people will attend the conference.

- A referee will throw a flag so high in the air that it does not hit the ground until the 2010 Flag Football season begins.

- Someone will try this trick play (make sure someone is getting it on tape!).

- It will be an unforgettable season.
