The one-hour show highlights all of the best action from the National Flag Football Championships held January 4-6, 2011 in College Station, TX.

I know everyone has been anticipating this blog post. The regular season has finally come to an end with the top teams having moved on to the post-season.

Before I give out my list of teams to watch out for in the playoffs, I would like to thank those who came and enjoyed our POWERADE. We ended up giving out 3 free cases and 3 mini Strawberry-Zero cases to 6 winners of our contest.

The 2010 Flag Football Video of the Year polls are now open!  VOTE NOW

40 of the top videos from this season are competiting for the title of POWERADE Video of the Year.  View all videos and VOTE for your favorites now!  The Preliminary Round runs 10/20 – 10/30.

What a week for POWERADE Intramural Flag Football here at the U of Mass. Although there were no games Monday, the teams playing Tuesday through Thursday came out and despite the terrible weather conditions. Our Sampling Event this past Thursday was a great success with many people signing up for our free contest to win a case of POWERADE at the end of the season!!!

Teams to look out for after Week 4:

Having been able to catch a good amount of action this week, there were three, yes, only three teams that really looked like they meant playoffs.

1. Dennis System (Top Gun)

I am a big fan of Always Sunny, great show, but not why I picked this team. Led by quarterback Adam Telian, this team of Isenberg Grad students currently stands on top of their division with one game left. This past week, Dennis System took care of business with a 39-19 victory led by Telian’s 5 touchdown night (3 throwing and 2 rushing).

2. Rushin’ Roulette

I’ve written about this team before. They came together as freshman living on the 9th floor of Kennedy two years ago, acquired a couple recruits, and put together a solid squad this season. Standing at 2-1, RR had an impressive defensive outing last night. Junior Kyle Lunt had 4 sacks, one for a safety while on offense; Keith Donovan (not to be confused with his twin brother Mike) had one rushing TD.

3. Team Wolfpack
Led by QB Devon Black, WR Julia McWilliams, and blocker Laura Lichterman, Wolfpack has strung together consecutive victories in the first 4 weeks. Last night, Wolfpack showed great intimidation and prowess by winning the game without even playing a down (forfeit, haha). Look out for this team, they mean business.

Sampling Events coming up:

Next week is already the last week of the regular season. Crazy, I know. As a special treat, we will be holding 2 Sampling Events. For the first 3 people that come to the table and tell myself or Vanessa their favorite flavor of POWERADE (must say the right flavor not just the color). I will guarantee them a case of their favorite kind of POWERADE on spot!!!

It is Homecoming weekend, all the alumni are coming back to check up on their Alma Mater. So starting tomorrow at the tailgate and with Football’s game against Richmond, let’s have ourselves a safe, fun weekend here in Amherst.

In a week dominated once again by the rain, we did manage to get a POWERADE Sampling Event in and make it count. For those who showed up, you have been entered in our contest to win free cases of your favorite flavor of POWERADE.

It was a week where torrential downpours and large gusts of wind dominated intramural football. Rainouts occurred on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights. For those who were able to make it to our Sampling Event on Tuesday, props to you. You battled the weather and still showed up to enjoy free bottles of POWERADE and caught some of the action (before the monsoon hit).

As a bonus for you fans, we will have an additional POWERADE Sampling night just so you have another chance to try our free POWERADE samples and have a chance to win our contest for a free case (or two) of your favorite flavor. Stay tuned for a date.

Rem’s Power Rankings Week 2:
Team “Rain Takes over UMass” was my team of the week. They made their presence noticed by taking over the fields for 3 nights and making it impossible to get games in…

*The above statement is false, there is no team called “Rain Takes over UMass.”

Sorry for my lame attempt at humor, let’s be serious.

I have videos from Wednesday night (25 to be exact), waiting to be posted. So for you lucky teams that got your games in on Wednesday, there is a good chance you made the site. Be on the lookout this weekend for my updated video section.

Welcome back to another season of POWERADE Intramurals here at UMass!!

Hope everyone had an enjoyable summer wherever you may have gone. But now that were back at school, it’s time for POWERADE Intramural Flag-Football to get up and running.

Next POWERADE Sampling event is:
Tuesday, 9/28 at the Boyden Intramural fields (across the Recreation center) from 5:30-9:00 PM

Come down to the field, check out the action and enjoy some cool, fresh POWERADE!!!!

Men’s Top-Gun (Offense): Rushin Roulette (Captain: Matt Kotleski). Quarterback Keith Donovan hits for long touchdowns to Jeff Moore and Dan Creed for a 34-12 win.

Men’s Top-Gun (Defense): Deez Nuts (Captain: Troy Hinson). Stellar defensive performances by cornerbacks Elan Katz and Chris Freni lead to a 14-0 shutout.

Men’s Just Fun (Offense): Liquor Box (Quarterback: Dan Balian). Balian with 2 passes to Pat Sheehan and Jack Burns and 1 rushing TD leads Liquor Box to a 24-12 victory.

Men’s Just Fun (Defense): Viva La Stool (A shutout with a 25-0 over The Family Blue)

Women’s (Overall): Wolf Pack (Put up 4 scores in a 25-7 rout over Royal Blue Team)
