Game Turned 3-Point Competition

According to the Pike A team, who destroyed their opponent on Sunday evening, it was a pretty uneventful game.  Although the other team kept it close at the beginning of the first half, after that the game was basically over; Pike was winning by almost double what the other team had.  So why not turn it into a 3-point competition?  Everyone started shooting long shots.  Team star Mike Paleos hit 7 or 8 three pointers in a row in the second half!  Great job, Pike A :)

Centreville Squad Wins Round 1

The men’s team “The Ridge,” has won their first playoff game giving them the opportunity to advance to round two. The final score was 48-38 as they broke away from a close game against German Club in the last few minutes.

The guys on The Ridge are mostly graduates of Centreville High School, in Centreville, Virginia, who have come together at the great university of Virginia Tech to form a team stacked with powerhouse players. Having played together for many years will help the squad in the next few rounds of the playoffs as the competition heats up.

Good Luck The Ridge!The Ridge

Team of the Week!

Smash n’ Dash co-ed basketball team has earned the title of team of the week. Their passion for the game was apparent Monday night as they lost a tough battle to Sigma Chi/Kappa Delta 33-37. It was a fight to the last second but Smash n’ Dash just couldn’t hold off the star player on Sigma Chi/Kappa Delta, Donald Gutermuth. Meagan Riley and Lea Westrick of Smash n’ Dash met with the POWERADE reps after the game to tell us what went wrong.

“Our shots just wouldn’t fall,” Lea said.
“We did the best we could,” Meagan said.

They also noted that they were going to hold an extra practice this week to get ready for the PLAYOFFS.

On behalf of the CBS College Sports Network, we wish you GOOD LUCK Smash n’ Dash!!!

Snow What?!?

Looks like a little snow and ice (or 3 feet of snow and ice) couldn’t hold back the Hokies who battled it out at War Memorial tonight! The intramural basketball games were on in full force, and the turnout was amazing! From players testing their skills in a SLAM DUNK contest to dedicated fans crowding the sidelines, War was the place to be tonight.

And let’s not forget about those FREE POWERADE samples. Thanks to everyone who told us why they love POWERADE in order to win a drawstring bag! Now if you’re reading this thinking, ‘hmm I wish I scored some FREE POWERADE and a drawstring bag…’ have no fear, we’ll be back to War this Monday, Feb 15th when the games start up at 6:30pm. So come on out and cheer on your favorite teams!

See you all Monday!
