Flag Football Season Wraps

This year’s exciting flag football season came to a close last Thursday, December 3rd as five new intramural champions were named! To start off the night with the 5:30 game, team Wrenis Pinkles won the men’s intermediate championship. Next, Dairy Club A was the winner of the co-rec advanced championship. In the co-rec intermediate championship, The Penetrators shut out the Theta Tau II team, with a final score of 14-0. The men’s advanced game at 8:45 was so close! Itchy Roast Beef 3 bested Tree Fiddy 32-31. In the final game of the night, Kthanks took home the women’s advanced champion title.

There were also some awesome half-time competitions that players and fans competed in to win gift cards and autographed VT jerseys! The lucky winner of the Ryan Williams #34 jersey (recently named ACC Rookie of the Year!) got to meet him and have his picture taken with him.

In addition to the pictures and videos that the campus reps uploaded to the cbsintramurals website, the intramural department at VT captured footage of the night’s events. Check it out on YouTube: IM Flag Football Championship Video on YouTube

Rain Puts a Damper on Flag Football at VT

The Intramural Flag Football games scheduled for tonight (Tuesday, October 27) have been canceled due to inclement weather and poor field conditions. Players are upset that the rain has forced the cancellation of tonight’s games, as these games will not be rescheduled. Looks like the teams that missed playing this week will have to play extra hard next Tuesday to make up for lost time!

NCAA Division Clash in Chestnut Hill

Engage Eight battled OJ’s Knives in a mid-season matchup of two NCAA unbeatens last week. Engage Eight won their prior game in impressive fashion, 54-8 and OJ’s Knives had outscored their opponents 83-0 in their two previous games. These two high-powered offenses looked to keep up their scoring ways, and certainly didn’t disappoint. OJ’s Knives jumped out to an early lead but Engage Eight QB Kevin Howard was able to connect for his third TD pass of the first half to end the first 20 minutes at a score of 20-20. Both teams would trade scores to start the half, but OJ’s Knives couldn’t overcome two late interceptions, the second of which was returned for a pick. Engage Eight would go onto win 39-32 and stay atop their division standings. It looks as if both these teams could have a say in how the championship will be decided in the NCAA division.
